Care and Maintenance

Ceramic tiles are one of the most durable surfaces for floor and wall covering as compared to many others. However, durability of the surface of the tiles depends on the manner in which it is used and maintained.

A tiled floor or wall that has been properly planned and installed is an extremely strong surface, especially as compared to other surfaces covered with less hard, or more stainable and flammable surfaces.
Some precaution and common sense actions will ensure the long lasting quality look of our tiles. Below please find a handy guide to care and maintenance of ceramic tiles:

Type of tile Routine cleaning Heavy duty cleaning

Glazed wall tiles Wipe with damp cloth or sponge using all purpose cleaner. Use window cleaner for glossy surfaces. Wipe dry with cloth Clean with commercial tiles cleaner or all purpose cleaner using non metallic scouring pad or very fine grade stainless steel pad. Rinse and wipe dry
Glazed floor tiles Vacuum regularly to remove gritty particles. Damp mop using solution of water and soap less detergent. Use commercial tile cleaner or strong solution of water and soap less detergent. If stained use scouring powder paste or diluted flash cleaner. Let stand for ten to fifteen minutes, brush and scrub. (if you use flash, be careful of the fumes, and ware gloves). Rinse and dry. For large areas and for areas that are difficult to clean, a powder scrubber is recommended.

Notes:

1- The tile surface is composed of the tile and joint. Both must be treated well.
2- Grout may present a special cleaning problem because it is susceptible to many staining agents. Apply a silicone sealer to grout joints several times a year for maximum protection.
3- In addition to keeping the grout clean, be sure to keep grout joints in good repair
4- Some harsh detergents could damage the joints which are cement based material. Only joints with epoxy material have high resistance to chemicals.
5- With colored grot test a small inconspicuous area first or follow grouts manufacturer recommendations.
6- Do not combine ammonia with house hold bleaches
